Enrico Visani (1938) Homage to Jacob Jordaens (1993) - Lot 19

Enrico Visani (1938) Homage to Jacob Jordaens (1993) Mixed media on paper (collage, drawing and pictorial interventions), created in 1993 for an exhibition organized in Antwerp in homage to the Baroque master Jacob Jordaens (1593 - 1678). A rich composition combining portraits, fragments of old works and bursts of color, in the rich, expressive visual language of the Italian artist. Dedicated "A Walter" and signed Visani 93 lower right. Dimensions: 71.5 x 56 cm (with frame). Born in 1938, Enrico Visani has developed a body of work that combines figuration, collage and contemporary pictorial writing. His practice often establishes a direct dialogue with the old masters, which he revisits in the form of tributes or modern reinterpretations. Some of his creations have been shown in thematic exhibitions in Italy and Belgium, notably when he tackles the Flemish heritage and the great names of the Baroque period.
