Lucas Kuys was a Dutch artist born in 1942 and died in 2023, active as a painter, printmaker, photographer and designer. Based mainly in Amsterdam, he divided his life between the city and a studio barge in English Norfolk. He is best known for his expressionist landscapes and scenes, often populated by recurring motifs and architecture seen on his travels. Kuys taught at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and participated in numerous exhibitions in the Netherlands. In 1992, he became the first non-British artist invited to participate in the "Art on the Underground" series on the London Underground.
