Jacques Monory is one of the leading figures of French Figuration Narrative, famous for his cinematic universe and his emblematic "Monory blue". His work, nourished by photography and cinema, features distant, melancholy characters, often caught up in fragmented narratives. This icy female portrait, combined with an almost photographic motif of flowers, illustrates this tension between beauty and anxiety. His paintings and prints are held in major institutions, including the Musée national d'Art moderne Centre Pompidou, and have been the subject of major monographic exhibitions, such as at the Fonds Hélène & Edouard Leclerc and the Fondation Maeght.
