In the taste of China Black patinated metal alloy vase with - Lot 5
In the taste of China Black patinated metal alloy vase with polychrome cloisonné enamel bands, decorated with foliage and flowers on a turquoise background, lightly raised guilloche friezes and two applied lion masks; unidentified mark in reserve under the base.
Metal baluster vase with black patina, enhanced by two registers of cloisonné enamel decorated with stylized flowers and foliage on a turquoise background. The body is decorated in light relief with flowery lozenges, punctuated by two molded lion mascarons reminiscent of the "taotie" mounts found on certain decorative bronzes. The technique, iconography and patina suggest a workshop production intended for export in the 20th century. A mark in Sino-Asian characters appears on the underside of the base; it has not been read or attributed and could be a fantasy mark. The object is a decorative work combining embossed/guilloche and cloisonné, with no archaic pretensions.
H. 24 cm; neck 9.5 cm; max. circumference 52 cm. Weight: 1.2 kg.
