Gaudez Adrien Etienne (1845 1902) The Fisherman - Lot 122
Gaudez Adrien Etienne (1845 1902) The Fisherman Bronze sculpture with medallic patina depicting a young fisherman brandishing a trident. Signed "A. Gaudez" on the base. Dimension (without base): 29x9x10 cm A French sculptor trained in François Jouffroy's workshop, Adrien Etienne Gaudez exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1864. His work, marked by expressive realism and a taste for popular or allegorical subjects, is one of the finest examples of late 19th-century naturalistic sculpture. His bronzes, often produced by renowned foundries, were highly appreciated for both their vigor and the finesse of their execution.
