Franz VAN GENESEN (active 20th century) - "Cour fleurie" (used title), oil on canvas, signed lower left "F. Van Genesen". Picturesque scene of an inner courtyard lined with flowers and a porch, under a red-tiled roof. The fresh palette of greens, blues and ochres is supported by a fairly thick material, with numerous knife highlights and low-angled light on the façade. The subject and workmanship link the piece to the Belgian regionalist vein of the 20th century, intended for the decorative market. The signature "F. Van Genesen" can be read in the lower left-hand corner. Dimensions: 40 x 35 cm unframed and 53 x 48 cm framed Slightly soiled surface, fine craquelure and occasional micro-lifts, very minor edge wear; frame sound, used gilded frame.
