Laurent Yvon (1984) - The veins of the heart - Lot 29
Laurent Yvon (1984) - The veins of the heart
Mixed media collage, acrylic paint and wool - Dimensions: 55H/46W cm, E 1.5 cm - Date: 2023
Female figure sketched in broad strokes, face tilted and eyes closed, as if suspended between abandon and inner tension. Red woollen threads, stitched and stretched across the surface, trace a network of veins running through the hair, neck and chest, culminating in a marked red heart in the center of the bust. The highly gestural composition blends flat tints, scratches and glued fragments in a green/black/white palette violently clashed by the red, creating an impression of urgency and pulsation. The work plays on the contrast between the fragility of the drawing and the materiality of the thread, transforming emotion into a physical, almost anatomical trace.
Laurent Yvon is a contemporary visual artist whose expressive work focuses on human emotions.
Influenced by figures such as Jean Dubuffet and Egon Schiele, his work is rooted in a sensibility close to art brut and surrealism.
His intense compositions, often articulated around the face and body, reflect an instinctive approach to drawing and painting, where fragmentation and hybridization of forms become the vectors of a strong emotional charge.
