Laurent Yvon (1984) - The carnival of consciences - Lot 32
Laurent Yvon (1984) - The carnival of consciences Mixed media, collage and acrylic paint - Dimensions: 175 cm H / 75 W, E 1.5 cm - Date: 2023 On reverse: signed and dated Certificate: certificate of authenticity enclosed. Large vertical format constructed as a compact crowd of faces, masks and body fragments, intermingled in successive layers. The image functions through saturation: superimposed drawings, paper collages, repetitive motifs, nervous tracings and translucent flat tints create a teeming, almost hypnotic scene. Gazes cross, split and lose themselves in a network of lines and bright colors (blues, reds, yellows, purples) punctuated by darker zones that structure the whole. The work evokes a multi-faceted inner theater, a mental "carnival" where identities blend, emotion becomes a mask, and consciousness appears as a procession of contradictory figures. Laurent Yvon is a contemporary visual artist whose expressive work focuses on human emotions. Influenced by figures such as Jean Dubuffet and Egon Schiele, his work is rooted in a sensibility close to art brut and surrealism. His intense compositions, often articulated around the face and body, reflect an instinctive approach to drawing and painting, where fragmentation and hybridization of forms become the vectors of a strong emotional charge.
