Laurent Yvon (1984) - Programmed humanity - Lot 33
Laurent Yvon (1984) - Programmed humanity Mixed media, collage and acrylic paint - Dimensions: 40H/30W cm, E 1.5 cm - Date: 2024 On reverse: signed and dated Certificate: certificate of authenticity enclosed. Frontal portrait of a figure with angular features, treated in black and gray, whose segmented, squared-off arm evokes a mechanical or coded structure. The pose - hand to chin - creates an attitude of reflection, almost a freeze frame, as if thought itself were becoming a program to be executed. The background, criss-crossed by orange and blue drips and swirls, energizes the scene with contrasting energy, while black projections punctuate the surface, accentuating the experimental aspect. The work plays on the ambiguity between flesh and machine, emotion and schema, and proposes a human figure that is both vulnerable and "constructed". Laurent Yvon is a contemporary visual artist whose expressive work focuses on human emotions. Influenced by figures such as Jean Dubuffet and Egon Schiele, his work has a sensibility close to Art Brut and Surrealism. His intense compositions, often articulated around the face and body, reflect an instinctive approach to drawing and painting, where fragmentation and hybridization of forms become the vectors of a strong emotional charge.
