The eye, very much in evidence, acts as the composition's pivot, while black lines break up the image, like a crack or a distance. The whole plays on the idea of facade and protection: an intense gaze, but as if enclosed behind glass - between attraction, vulnerability and mask. Laurent Yvon is a contemporary visual artist whose expressive work focuses on human emotions. Influenced by figures such as Jean Dubuffet and Egon Schiele, his work is rooted in a sensibility close to art brut and surrealism. His intense compositions, often articulated around the face and body, reflect an instinctive approach to drawing and painting, where fragmentation and hybridization of forms become the vectors of a strong emotional charge.
