Pair of "Panton Chair" in fiberglass (FRP)
Created in the late 1950s and put into production in 1967, the Panton Chair is one of the first cantilevered monoblock chairs. The first examples used composite materials (FRP / rigid polyurethane) with a gloss lacquer finish; this line was later declined in thermoplastic materials before later reissues under the name Panton Chair Classic. The present lot corresponds to a version in lacquered rigid polyurethane foam, reputed to be rarer than the mat polypropylene series. HERMANN MILLER MODELE UNIQUE can be a prototype.
