After Alfred Stevens (1823 1906) Lady in Yellow - Lot 153
After Alfred Stevens (1823 1906) Lady in Yellow
Oil on canvas depicting an elegant woman in a yellow dress, leaning against a table, holding a fan, inspired by the composition La dame en jaune (also known as Le Souvenir, 1863), in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts, Brussels.
A faithful interpretation of the original model, featuring the pose, the furniture and the luminous treatment characteristic of Stevens' work, with a freer execution and a stronger pictorial substance.
Visible damage and gaps, particularly in the upper part, with lifting and missing paint layers.
Blackened wood frame.
