Dimensions : 40 x 55 cm.
Paul Mathieu (1872-1932) was an important figure in Belgian luminism, close to Impressionism, renowned for his landscapes in which light and its variations play a central role. Influenced by the great plein-air painters, he developed a free, vibrant touch, particularly evident in his views of rivers, ponds and gardens.
Today, his work is held in public collections, notably the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, as well as in numerous private collections.
