Lucien Braet (1924-1980) Anatomical study of a female nude - Lot 150
Lucien Braet (1924-1980) Anatomical study of a female nude Graphite pencil drawing on paper depicting an anatomical study of a female nude, focusing on the curves of the pelvis and lower limbs. Composition with apparent construction lines and geometric research characteristic of the studio work of Belgian artist Lucien Braet. Signed "Braet" in graphite in the lower left margin. Presented under glass in an antique hand-crafted frame. Frame dimensions: 53 x 42.5 cm. Lucien Braet, trained at the Academies of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode and Watermael-Boitsfort, attached fundamental importance to drawing, which he considered the very basis of his artistic research. The rarity of his early graphic works is reinforced by the voluntary destruction of much of his output from the 1940s to 1960s in a self-destruction operation carried out by the artist in 1965.
