Adolphe Willette Les Sept Péchés capitaux, suite of 7 origin - Lot 192
Adolphe Willette Les Sept Péchés capitaux, suite of 7 original lithographs, 1906 1917, justified and signed, on vellum (chine appliqué), in the original sleeve Complete suite of seven original lithographs by Adolphe Willette illustrating the theme of the Seven Deadly Sins (Avarice, Gluttony, Lust, Pride, Wrath, Sloth, Envy). The compositions, in the artist's characteristic satirical and erotic vein, are executed in richly modeled, shaded black. Each plate is signed and justified, some bearing the date 1906 or 1917 in the composition. The sheets are printed on chine appliqué pasted on vellum, as was customary in art publishing at the time. The set is preserved in sheets, reunited in its antique sleeve, which reinforces the coherence and bibliophilic interest of the lot.
