Rococo Revival desk writing set with integrated bell circa 1860-1890
Important writing set resting on a curved top richly decorated with shells, foliage and scrolls in the Louis XV style. The set includes two covered containers, a central bowl forming a receptacle for wax or sponge, three cylindrical pen-holders and a bell concealed under the central dome, still functional.
Fine quality work in silver-plated metal, produced in the style of Napoleon III period office silverware. Complete set.
Second half of the 19th century, circa 1860-1890.
Marks visible on reverse: hexagonal silver-plated hallmark, workshop letter "Y" and maker's mark.
